About
Hi, I'm Corbin
My name is Corbin and I started The Ioniq Guy in February 2022 when I purchased my first EV, the Hyundai Ioniq 5. I've always had an interest in cars and I studied filmmaking so creating a YouTube channel that combined both of those interests, was an easy decision.
After working in the engineering world for 13 years, in 2025 I decided to pursue The Ioniq Guy full-time and so far, it's been the best decision I've ever made! The only reason this dream has been possible is because of the support from you, my customers and viewers. I'm eternally grateful.
My first video
After purchasing my Ioniq 5, I like many others noticed very quickly how annoying that it was that the car didn't have a rear windshield wiper. To try and prevent water buildup on the rear window, I made a video comparing two of my favorite treatments to see which would help the most. The video did fairly well and I said to myself, "There might be something here!"
My first product
I never expected this endeavor to lead to products. A lifelong woodworker and drummer, I found myself with a steady supply of broken sticks and a problem to solve: my Ioniq 5 lacked a good spot for storing glasses.
Leveraging the fabric covered steel panel next to the driver’s display, I designed a magnetic holder using the butt of a broken drumstick as the "nose." After a strong response on social media, I streamlined production in my shop and launched on Etsy. Some of you might even be using one of those original versions today.
How to scale?
As orders surged, I quickly exhausted my supply of broken drumsticks. To scale, I turned to 3D printing—a field entirely new to me. Guided by an enthusiast coworker, I dove headfirst into additive manufacturing. Leveraging four years of high school CAD experience, I began designing digital files and watched, amazed, as they came to life on the print bed.
More speed, please!
Even with 3D printing, demand soon outpaced my capacity. The turning point was the launch of the industry-shifting Bambu Lab X1C, which slashed my production time from three hours to just 45 minutes. This efficiency jump allowed me to move beyond basic fulfillment and back into design. Ideas began flowing, and my shop quickly expanded from Ioniq 5 accessories to custom solutions for the Ioniq 6 and EV6.
Something for everyone!
Four years in, my shop now supports the full range of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis EVs globally. Having customers on almost every continent remains a constant reminder of how far this project has come—from a single drumstick to an international brand.
